São Tomé: Civil Diplomat Helessandro Leads Health and Care for Families
São Tomé and Príncipe: Civil Diplomat Helessandro Oliveira carried out a humanitarian dental care mission in Africa, focusing on community health and human dignity.
The action brought dental care to members of the local community. In addition, the initiative included the participation of dentist Dr. Reidison Jesus, who joined the mission with technical expertise and humanitarian commitment.
During the activity, the team provided dental assistance and performed surgical procedures when needed. As a result, the mission helped people who often face barriers to specialized oral health care.
This action also reinforced the role of Humanitarian Civil Diplomacy in practical community service. Through direct action, Civil Diplomats can connect professional knowledge, compassion, and local needs.
Oral health remains an important issue in São Tomé and Príncipe. A 2023 adult oral health survey found high levels of decayed and missing teeth among participants. It also reported that 66% had felt dental pain or discomfort during the previous year. Moreover, 30.7% had never received dental treatment.
Therefore, humanitarian dental actions can make a meaningful difference. They offer care, relief, guidance, and attention to communities that need accessible health services.
Civil Diplomat Helessandro Oliveira has a history of social engagement in Africa. Jethro Africa has previously highlighted his humanitarian work in Mozambique through the Diamonds from Africa Project.
Helessandro Oliveira also holds postgraduate studies in Biblical History, Geography, and Archaeology. However, his humanitarian path continues to show a broader mission: serving people through presence, care, and action.
With this dental care mission in São Tomé and Príncipe, he strengthened another bridge between Humanitarian Civil Diplomacy and community well-being in Africa.
