Social Mission in Calumbo: Parents, Children’s Rights, Family, and Social Transformation
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Civil Diplomat Dr. Laurinda André P. de Macedo participated in a social mission in Calumbo, Angola.
The initiative took place at St. Joseph Parish, alongside Father Nuno Jorge Silva Costa Almeida, and brought families together for dialogue, learning, and community support.
In addition, the initiative provided participants with an enriching experience through knowledge sharing and attentive listening to families.
Children’s Rights and Family Responsibility
During the meeting, Dr. Laurinda André spoke with parents, children, and guardians about children’s rights.
One of the main topics was the responsibility adults have for educating, protecting, and supporting their children.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of registering children and ensuring their access to school.
In addition, the conversation addressed parental responsibilities and the family’s role in building a more just society.
Some families face social vulnerability and the effects of violence experienced across generations.
Therefore, the meeting created a space to reflect on raising children with greater awareness, care, and respect.
Listening and Supporting Families
The program also included moments of listening, emotional support, and spiritual support while respecting participants’ personal experiences.
For Dr. Laurinda, understanding past pain can help adults break patterns that affect their relationships with their children.
In this context, the initiative encouraged healthier family bonds based on affection, responsibility, and respect.
The community also received support from Father Nuno, who accompanied the initiative and contributed to the social mission.
As a result, the meeting brought participants closer and opened space for conversations about difficulties that often remain unspoken.
Food and Books Reached the Community
In addition to the awareness activities, Dr. Laurinda André brought food to support families in the community.
The Civil Diplomat also donated copies of her book A Linguagem da Dor (The Language of Pain).
The book reflects on the silent pain that can affect different stages of human life.
At the same time, it encourages readers to approach difficult experiences consciously and discover new meaning within them.
Laurinda also explores childhood wounds and the importance of recognizing emotional pain during adulthood.
“You cannot change what hurt you in childhood, but you can heal the adult you became.”
The message was closely connected to the topics discussed during the meeting with families in Calumbo.
An Afternoon of Learning and Connection
The social mission in Calumbo became an afternoon of learning, support, and meaningful exchanges for everyone involved.
Parents and guardians had the opportunity to reflect on education, child protection, and family responsibility.
Children, meanwhile, remained at the center of a message focused on their rights to protection, education, and development.
For Dr. Laurinda, engaging with these communities creates opportunities to understand realities, hear stories, and encourage transformation through dialogue.
Furthermore, the experience reinforced the importance of community engagement and cooperation among families, local leaders, and social initiatives.
More than a visit, the mission encouraged reflection on how each family can contribute to building a more conscious future.
