Jethro International an the First Collective Action of Civil Diplomats in Mozambique at Maluana – Maguenhe Primary School
Maluana, August 2025 – The new Humanitarian Civil Diplomats of Mozambique with the Directors Eliana Santos and Daniel Barwani carried out their first collective action at Maguenhe Primary School, in Maluana, Manhiça district, Maputo Province.
The goal was to assess the school’s conditions and identify the community’s most urgent needs.
Challenges Faced by the Children
The school serves around 220 children who face serious difficulties. The most critical issues include:
- Lack of drinking water, since the artesian well built in 2024 is not functional.
- Poor sanitation, with only one unsafe latrine and no separate bathrooms for boys and girls.
- No desks or blackboards, forcing students to write on the floor, wooden planks, or bricks.
- No school meals, uniforms, or basic materials.
Unfinished Structure: the building stands on the premises, with only walls. It lacks doors, windows, desks, and other essentials. With proper support, this structure could become a functional learning space.
Commitment of the Civil Diplomats
The Civil Diplomats pledged to survey the unfinished building and mobilize support from sponsors, institutions, and the government.
Their mission is to ensure that Maguenhe’s children have access to the basics of education: clean water, safe bathrooms, school meals, and proper classrooms.
A Day of Hope
Despite the challenges, the initiative brought joy. Children, teachers, and school leaders enjoyed a day of activities with games, gifts, lunch, workshops, and lectures. The event proved that solidarity can pave the way for a brighter future.
